From Learning to Impact: A Defining Journey in Sustainability

By Elizabeth Nyauchi - APA Fellow, Cohort 2024.

With the world currently facing a rapidly escalating sustainability crisis, a collective effort must be made on a grand scale to bring all sustainability visionaries together at one table to advance the sustainability agenda. Earlier last year, in 2024, I was privileged to join the prestigious APA Sustainability Fellowship Programme, fully aware that I had an unprecedented opportunity to transform the field of sustainability by enhancing my knowledge on the subject and applying it to my background in Fisheries Science, an opportunity I was able to seize thanks to the generosity and support from the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS).

A Unique Opportunity with Great Impact

By Jerry Omulo - APA Fellow 2024

"In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they're not." — Albert Einstein. This quote resonates deeply for early career scholars like myself, who, after acquiring theoretical knowledge in higher education, must seek industry interactions to gain practical experience. The APA Sustainability Fellowship Programme provided that essential bridge between theory and practice, embodying the African Centre for Technology Studies philosophy.
