Side Events (Co-) Hosted by the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) at COP 22
Date: Saturday, November 12
Time: 14:00-15:30
Location: Kenzi Club Agdal Medina
Hosts: International Development Research Institute (IDRC)
How do we effectively engage key stakeholders in the design and process of research to include a diversity of perspectives and sources of knowledge? How do we creatively and effectively deliver research results and recommendations in a manner that will spark action and leadership on climate change?? We’ll look at selfie campaigns that catalyzed action to improve municipal waste collection (Angola), drone footage that drew attention to the plight of coastal communities threatened by flooding and coastal erosion (Ghana), and the use of a TouchTable permitting stakeholders to interact with research results and contribute their own perspectives (Nepal), etc. Participants will be invited to share their examples of success and failure. The objective is to share creative ideas and lessons learned and to further inspire creative approaches to communicate research so as to catalyze action and leadership on climate change.
*ACTS Staff (Dr. Joanes Atela) will speak at this event
